Kate Baur – Busting Myths and Opening Doors in Medicine for LGBTQ+ patients

Kate Baur recently started her surgical residency in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She has a particular interest in colo-rectal surgery, in particular as anal cancer is a cancer that has a higher incidence in populations such as the LGBTQ+ population.  Since recording her podcast she has not only started her surgical residency but has got married.

He has worked as a Cardiologist in hospital settings for over 30 years.

Tiffany McKever is a digital healthcare strategist, whose work has included researching and developing a Population Health Initiative with a focus on environmental factors related to social determinants of health (SDOH) resulting in significant impacts to healthcare cost access and quality in large urban cities. Keren Leshem is Chief Executive Officer at OCON Therapeutics, which develops innovative and safe intra-uterine medical solutions inspired by women’s bodies and anatomy, She is also a board director at Aspivix, and was recently awarded Best Women’s HealthTech CEO 2023 in the Global CEO Excellence Awards.  She holds a number of other Board Roles and in 2022 was a Tech Pioneer at the World Economic Forum and is a Mentor within the 8400 Health Network

2. Jessica Karr of Coyote Ventures: Innovation in Healthcare, Innovation in Building Visibility

Jessica Karr is the founder and managing director of Coyote Ventures, an investment firm that focuses on backing founders who are solving problems that disproportionately affect overlooked populations with a foundation in women’s health.  She is also a limited partner of Portfolia FemTech II Fund, designed for women who want to back entrepreneurial companies for returns and impact, among other advisory roles.

Dr. Tara Bishop is passionate about improving health and healthcare. In her twenty-year career
as a physician executive, Tara has on-the-ground experience in delivery system improvement,
health policy, payer operations, product development, value-based care, and start-ups.  She is
the founder and managing director of Black Opal Ventures, a venture capital firm that invests in
companies that are transforming healthcare through technology.

Vice Provost Orla Shiels of Trinity College Dublin – Micro Credentials with Macro Impact

Professor Orla Sheils is the Vice-Provost and Chief Academic Officer at Trinity College Dublin as well as holding the position of Professor of Molecular Diagnostics. Prior to her appointment as Vice-Provost in 2021, Orla served as the Director of Medical Ethics in the School of Medicine, was the founding Director of the Trinity Translational Medicine Institute, and was Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences from 2019-2021. Most recently, Orla was elected as a member of Scientific Council of the International Agency for Research on Cancer for 2024-27. IARC is a cancer research agency of the World Health Organisation that supports cancer prevention research.
